Stephen Root, known for King of the Hill, Office Space and Barry, has confirmed he appears in Grand Theft Auto VI. Confirmed Asked by the Associated Press at a Hollywood Walk of Fame event on September 13, he said yes, players are going to see him in there.
Root didn't name his character, but he didn't really need to. Since Trailer 2 in May 2025, fans have recognised his voice as Brian Heder, the veteran Keys smuggler in Rockstar's character guide who lets Jason live rent-free in exchange for help with local shakedowns. Root told the AP that too many people knew his voice from King of the Hill for the secret to last.
Root, who grew up in Florida, also won his first Emmy the same week, for a supporting role in a comedy series.
Rockstar's reported response
Days later, the GTA VI O'Clock podcast reported that Rockstar had emailed the game's performers reminding them of their non-disclosure agreements, and that the date they may announce their involvement is still November 19. Rumor / leak Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has confirmed the message.
If it is accurate, don't expect the voices of Jason, Lucia or the rest of the cast to be confirmed before launch day.
