The short answer
No, GTA 6 is not on PC at launch. It releases on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Confirmed There's no PC version, no PC pre-order, no Steam page and no system requirements.
A PC version is very likely eventually, because every mainline GTA since GTA III has reached PC. The question is when.
What Take-Two has actually said
At Take-Two's annual shareholder meeting on September 17, 2026, a shareholder asked whether the shortage of PS5 Pro consoles was changing the company's thinking on PC. CEO Strauss Zelnick said Take-Two's strategy is to launch, over time, on any platform with a meaningful audience, and that PC is becoming more and more important to the company. Confirmed
That was widely reported as a GTA 6 PC tease. It wasn't a confirmation: he didn't name GTA 6 and gave no date. Zelnick has previously explained that Rockstar launches on console first to focus on its core audience. Read our full report on what he said.
The "sooner than expected" rumor
On the September 4 episode of the VGC podcast, VGC's Andy Robinson said there had been "a bit of noise" about the PC version, and that he thought Rockstar might move it up. Rumor / leak He linked that to expensive consoles and hardware shortages, which leave many would-be players without a PS5 or Xbox. He didn't give a date or name a source.
An older hint came from hardware maker Corsair, which suggested on a February 2025 earnings call that GTA 6 might reach PC in early 2026. Rumor / leak That was said when the console version was still due in fall 2025, before two delays, so it tells us little now.
How long Rockstar made PC players wait before
| Game | Console launch | PC launch | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA IV | April 2008 | December 2008 | About 7 months |
| GTA V | September 2013 | April 2015 | About 19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 2018 | November 2019 | About 1 year |
| GTA 6 | November 19, 2026 | Not announced | ? |
A Red Dead-style gap would mean late 2027. A GTA V-style gap would push it into 2028. If Robinson's information is right, it could be earlier. Rumor / leak All of that is pattern-reading, not a promise.
Should you wait or buy a console?
If playing at launch matters to you, PS5 or Xbox Series X|S is the only option, and Rockstar has confirmed no online mode is coming at launch, so you won't miss multiplayer by waiting either. If you're happy to wait, PC versions of Rockstar games have historically added higher frame rates and extra features, but you'd be avoiding spoilers for a year or more.
Either way, don't trust anything offering a GTA 6 PC download, installer, beta or key. They're scams, often carrying malware.
