The first six singles from Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album have passed 24 million combined streams on Spotify, a week after they were released on September 17. The same songs reportedly drew about 4.1 million streams in their first 24 hours. Preview report
The day-one figure comes from industry reporting rather than an official announcement from Spotify or Rockstar, so treat it as a reported number. The running totals are visible on Spotify itself.
Which song is leading?
Morgan Wallen's country track "Last Thing You Need" was out in front at around 6.8 million streams on its own, well beyond the usual GTA audience. Travis Scott's "RHYNO", produced by Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, was the most-shared of the singles on release day.
The other early releases are Yung Lean's "That's It" with Future and Metro Boomin, Rauw Alejandro's "Macacoa 2000", "Sexy Magic" by CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, PinkPantheress, Fred again.. and Etienne de Crécy, and Keith Richards' "Bright Lights, Big City".
Why it's a big deal
This is only six of the album's 34 tracks. The rest, and most of the biggest names, arrive on November 19 alongside the game. Rockstar and Atlantic Records have clearly planned the album as an event of its own, with Spotify billboards, artist teasers and vinyl editions, and the early numbers suggest it's working.
