Our policy: we report on leaks as news, but we don't host, embed or link to leaked footage, spoilers, the leaker's site or its token. Nothing below spoils the story.
GTA 6 is 39 days away, and keeping its story fresh just got harder. A 25-minute video credited to CyberLeek spread on October 8, and Engadget warned that it contains major story spoilers. Rumor / leak Two days later, the leaker threatened to release a full build, "played to the end, credits and all", if its memecoin reaches a $30 million market cap. Rumor / leak
None of that has been verified, and Rockstar hasn't commented. But if you want to reach November 19 knowing nothing, now is the time to set up your defences. This takes about ten minutes.
The short version
- Mute the words below on every social app you use, for at least six weeks.
- Turn off autoplay in feeds, so a thumbnail or clip can't play before you scroll past.
- Leave or mute leak-sharing Discord servers, subreddits and group chats.
- Be most careful from November 12, when pre-loading starts, to the first week after launch.
Words and phrases to mute
Start with these. Most apps match a muted word anywhere in a post, so shorter phrases catch more.
- CyberLeek, Cyber Leek and Extended Leek
- GTA 6 leak, GTA VI leak and #GTA6Leaks
- GTA 6 ending, GTA 6 spoilers, GTA 6 story and GTA 6 final mission
- GTA 6 full build and GTA 6 playable build
- GTA 6 trophies and GTA 6 achievements (see below for why)
Add both spellings, "GTA 6" and "GTA VI", for anything you really care about. You don't need to mute "GTA 6" on its own unless you want to drop all coverage. Official Rockstar news, and ours, stays spoiler-free.
App by app
Menu names change often. These are the paths as of October 2026.
| App | Where to go | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| X | Settings and privacy › Privacy and safety › Mute and block › Muted words | Hides posts with those words from your timeline and notifications. Choose "From anyone" and "Forever". |
| TikTok | Settings and privacy › Content preferences › Filter video keywords | Filters matching videos out of your For You and Following feeds. |
| Instagram and Threads | Settings › Hidden Words | Filters comments and message requests. It won't catch every Reel, so tap "Not interested" on GTA 6 clips too. |
| Bluesky | Settings › Moderation › Muted words and tags | Hides posts with those words or tags. |
| YouTube | Settings › General › Playback in feeds: Off | There's no muted-words option, so stop previews auto-playing and use "Don't recommend channel" on leak channels. Avoid the Shorts tab. |
| On a community's page, open the menu and choose Mute | Reddit can't filter posts by keyword, so mute GTA communities until you've finished the story, and skip the Popular feed. | |
| Discord | Right-click a server › Mute Server, or leave it. Also User Settings › Chat: turn off link previews | Stops leak links from expanding into thumbnails and videos inside chats. |
On your console
- PS5: go to Settings › Saved Data and Game/App Settings › Spoiler Warnings. It only works for content the developer marks as a spoiler, so treat it as a bonus, not a shield.
- Trophy and achievement lists: lists for big games often appear on tracking sites before launch, and their names can describe late missions. Hidden trophies stay hidden on your console, but not on every website. Don't look them up until you're done.
- Xbox and PlayStation home screens: news tiles and friends' captures can show clips after launch. Turn off auto-playing video previews in your console's settings if they bother you.
When the risk is highest
- Now until November 19: CyberLeek is the main threat. Tom's Hardware reports its memecoin briefly peaked at about $7.6 million on October 11, still far from the $30 million target, before falling back to around $5 million. Preview report What the threat says.
- November 12: pre-loading and physical copies arrive. The box holds a download code, not a disc. Confirmed Pre-load files are usually locked until launch, but dataminers will still try to dig into them. How GTA 6 pre-loading works.
- A day or two before launch: reviews are expected. Reviewers normally avoid story details, but headlines and comment sections don't always. When GTA 6 reviews come out.
- November 19: the game unlocks at midnight ET in the US (9 PM Pacific on November 18). Streamers will play through the night, and story clips will spread quickly. Unlock times for your country.
- The first week: "GTA 6 ending explained" videos usually appear within days of launch. Keep your mutes on until you've seen the credits.
What not to do
- Don't download "full build" files. There's no legitimate GTA 6 download before launch, and fake ones are an easy way to spread malware. How to spot fake GTA 6 downloads.
- Don't buy the leaker's memecoin. The account withdrew about $250,000 of it in August, which crashed the price. A market-cap target gives people a reason to buy, whether or not anything is ever released.
- Don't join "leak" Discords to check if something is real. That's the fastest way to see what you were trying to avoid.
Will any of this change the release date?
No. GTA 6 still launches on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Confirmed Rockstar kept every date after the August leaks, and the 2022 hacker's trial on November 9 has no known link to CyberLeek. Every GTA 6 leak, explained.
