Several sites ran headlines this week about a "new official statement" from Take-Two on GTA 6 Online and a PC version. We checked. There's no new statement. Every quote in those stories traces back to Take-Two's annual shareholder meeting on September 17, 2026, which we covered at the time.
Nothing about GTA 6's online mode or PC plans has changed since then. Here's what was actually said, and where the confusion comes from.
What Take-Two said on September 17
On online: Take-Two said GTA 6 is a single-player title launching this November, and that it will keep supporting the existing GTA Online, on GTA V, after GTA 6 releases and beyond. Confirmed CEO Strauss Zelnick also said no recurrent consumer spending is expected with the launch, meaning no microtransactions on day one. Our September report.
On PC: asked about platforms, Zelnick said PC is becoming more and more important to Take-Two. Confirmed He did not name GTA 6, confirm a PC version or give a date. Exactly what he said.
Why it's being reported as new
Shareholder meeting comments tend to resurface in waves. Investor transcripts get picked up days later, then other outlets rewrite those stories, and the original date drops out. With GTA 6 seven weeks from launch, any Take-Two quote about online or PC gets clicks, so the same lines are circulating again as "new".
Some of this week's stories also mention a 32-player online format. That isn't from Take-Two either. It comes from Rockstar's own filings in a UK employment tribunal in Glasgow, first reported in January and again on September 10, which describe a 32-player format as highly confidential. Preview report The filings don't call it GTA 6 Online or say it's final. We cover it in our GTA 6 Online guide.

How to spot a recycled quote
Before trusting a "new statement" headline, look for the date the words were actually said, not the date the article was published. If a story says "at a recent shareholder meeting" without a date, it's usually the last one. Take-Two's next scheduled update is its quarterly earnings report, normally in early November. That's the next real chance for news on online or PC before launch.
We'll update this page if Take-Two or Rockstar does say anything new.
