With GTA 6 six weeks away, fans are already asking what Rockstar makes next. This week's favorite answer is L.A. Noire 2, based on an old leak that resurfaced over the weekend. Rumor / leak Rockstar and Take-Two have confirmed nothing.
What the leak claims
The post first appeared on 4chan in 2023. It says Rockstar's next game is an L.A. Noire sequel set in San Francisco, with a story built around the Zodiac Killer, who targeted the Bay Area in the late 1960s and 1970s. Rumor / leak
Why people are taking it seriously
The leak said Rockstar once planned four GTA 6 protagonists before settling on two. Rockstar North's Rob Nelson has since confirmed that. It also described the relationship system correctly, Upcomer reports.
The catch: the four-protagonist detail had already been in an Axios report a year earlier. Getting a known detail right proves less than it seems.
The Rockstar Australia connection
The original L.A. Noire was made by Team Bondi, which closed soon after launch. Its founder, Brendan McNamara, went on to start Video Games Deluxe, which made the VR version. Rockstar bought that studio in 2025 and renamed it Rockstar Australia. Confirmed That's a real link to the series, but owning a studio isn't the same as announcing a sequel.
Our read
Possible, and more plausible than most "next Rockstar game" rumors. Still, it's an anonymous post from three years ago, with no new evidence. What is confirmed: Rockstar is publishing Remedy's Max Payne remakes, and its priority right now is GTA 6.
