Warhorse Studios co-founder Martin Klima says he hopes GTA 6 will "blaze the trail" for higher game prices across the industry. Confirmed He made the comments in an interview with PC Gamer.
What he said
Klima argued that games keep getting more expensive to make while the audience has stopped growing, so raising prices is the only lever left. He said Rockstar and Take-Two are the only companies big enough to dare to go first, and that a higher price is overdue. Confirmed
He was also blunt about the game itself. The series doesn't appeal to him, he won't play GTA 6 unless he's forced to, and he doesn't understand its popularity, though he called Rockstar's games technical marvels and wished them luck. Confirmed
What GTA 6 actually costs
| Edition | US price |
|---|---|
| Standard | $79.99 |
| Ultimate | $99.99 |
| Vice City Collection (merch only, no game) | $399.99 |
Take-Two has said the $99.99 edition is its best seller, Video Games Chronicle reports. Preview report Some extra missions and shops are only in Ultimate. Full breakdown: GTA 6 price and editions.
Our read
$80 is already $10 above the usual big-budget price. If GTA 6 sells as expected at that price, other publishers will notice, and 2027's biggest games could follow. Players won't love that, but Klima is saying out loud what many studios are thinking.
